All the Joy You Can Stand-Review

7 Feb

I am a self-help book junkie and this one is definitely my one my TOP 5 MUST KEEP! From beginning to end felt like Debrena was speaking directly to me. Debrena provides a lot of life experience to back up her concepts. This book is an easy read the chapters are nice, short and straight to the point. I love the exercises Debrena has in some chapters; I would definitely suggest you keep a notebook and a pen by your side to jot down any ideas or ‘Aha!’ moments.

3 Main things that stood out for me:

Energy Management

It is very important to take a step back and ask yourself ‘How have I been investing my energy? Debrena points out that when we are constantly engaging in situations in which we feed others’ energy but are not fed in return our spirit erodes or our energy tanks become depleted. Energy exchange occurs all the time whether we are aware of it not. That’s why it is important to notice how you feel around certain people and also notice if you feel the anxiety when you are asked to commit your energy time and effort in someone, project or event.

Tell the truth

‘a commitment to telling the truth is the first process of self discovery… healing takes place within us as we speak the truth of our lives.’

Many people are not honest with themselves and often go to great lengths trying to protect themselves from the reality around them. They do this by lying. Lying may seem appealing with short term because it can make a bad situation seem better than it is or disappear altogether.  But in the term it may make thing much worse.  The three most common ways people lie to themselves and reject reality are: repression, denial and delusion.

Repression is a psychological term – It occurs when people refuse to think about something by trying to forget about it and bury it deep inside the mind (this can occur consciously or unconsciously).

Denial is the most common form of lying and it is when someone refuses to accept the truth

Delusion is completely refusing to accept the reality of situation by pretending things are different then they usually are.

Learn to tell the truth about your life, your job, your family, your friends, your relationships, your dreams and you’ll notice that you will look at a life differently.

How do you expect god to give more when you are not grateful for the little you have? Developing an attitude of sincere gratitude for your current blessings unleashes the power for receiving many more. Every Day Give Thanks. When you are in a sincere state of gratitude your energy (vibrational resonance) is one of acceptance and harmony. You resonate and as a result project a much higher vibrational frequency which is exactly what attracts to you the events, conditions, and circumstances that you desire.

I hope you enjoyed this book
